Honouring our Volunteers
Dr. Richard Reid, Family Physician, is a long-standing member of the JFPA and for 40 years a provider of SRH services at the Lenworth Jacobs Clinic in Kingston. Dr. Reid was introduced to the Association by Mr. Stewart McKoy, volunteer Obstetrician Gynaecologist at the Beth Jacobs Clinic in St. Ann’s Bay. In his early years with the Association, he would visit the Beth Jacobs Clinic to assist Dr. McKoy.
Dr. Reid benefitted from various training opportunities facilitated by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). For example, he visited Bogota, Colombia in 1986 and San Paolo, Brazil in 1987 where he was trained to do vasectomies and tubal ligations. At that time, these services were provided at the Lenworth Jacobs Clinic.
Today, Dr. Reid remains an important member of the JFPA family and continues to provide SRH services such as long and short-acting reversible contraceptive methods, breast and cervical cancer screening and paternity testing. We are grateful for his contributions to the Association.
